Pet Portraits Make a Great Gift For Someone You Love!
Prince Harry Barker is quite the catch. He resides with a dear friend of my family, Carmen Jones, who owns her own photography business called Carmen Jones Photography in Pensacola, Florida.
My Mother commissioned this painting of Carmen’s beloved Harry a few years ago as a thank you gift. My mother was turning 80 and the whole family rented a huge beach house on Pensacola Beach to come together to celebrate the big event. As fate would have it, my Mother got really sick and was still in bed, deathly ill, the day of her big party with 60 plus of her dearest friends and all her family to arrive that evening along with the caterers and a band. Mom had hired Carmen to photograph the event. She said the party would still go on and just wanted everyone to have a great time.
An hour before the party, Carmen arrived at the house only to find Mom still in bed. All of the family was there early to take family photos and we were all bummed that Mom was not going to be in them. Carmen is so clever and came up with a really big idea. She rallied Mom to get up out of the bed, throw on some clothes and put on a little make-up and spend thirty to forty minutes in the Living room to take family photos. After all you only turn eighty once, right? And so, Mom rallied and we got the family photo’s and then Carmen took it a step further. She propped my mother up like a queen in a large wing chair with arms and took several photographs and then we tucked Mom back in bed, propped her up like a queen, again, so people could come in to say hello. (germ masks provided) All through out the party, Carmen would position all of the party guests around the wing chair, as singles, couples or families, which she later photo shopped to have our Mother in the photo sitting in the chair. It was a brilliant idea.
Carmen later presented my Mother with a photo album of her party which included the photos of her surrounded by all of her family and friends. It was priceless. The only thing she could think of to repay the kindness was to commission a painting of the love of Carmen’s life, Prince Harry Barker.
